This picture of lightning striking somewhere below was the last photo I took on my last day working on top of Pikes Peak on my way to the van down.
Snow at any time of the year, even early in August, is always possible on the Summit of Pikes Peak.
A couple looks out to the sun coming over a sea of clouds covering the Colorado Springs area from the Pikes Peak Summit. I did not take this picture – it was taken by the Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway’s webcam and was edited by me.

This photo was taken from the north face of the mountain, looking east (obviously) towards the sun setting between a thin layer of clouds and the mountains.
I just left my iPhone 6 in the window for a little while while I was mopping the summit house.
